My Book

So I wrote a book. Last summer. I wrote it in 30 days. It was an ebook.

And everyone asked one question:

“When is the paperback coming out?”

Within two weeks of launching my ebook, I began working on the paperback. I figured I could get it done by Christmas.

Christmas came and went and I was not done my book.

I was frustrated and afraid and fairly sure I would never finish. But one day, I realized that if I didn’t make it a priority and let Jesus take all my insecurities about putting myself out there, I would absolutely never finish.

So I did. And it’s done. And now the words God put on my heart to write are out there for everyone, forever. Open, exposed, vulnerable–that’s pretty much how I feel right about now.

But I’m one of those “try-hard” girls like my friend Jill McCormick talks about, and I’ve always wanted to be perfect. I always wanted to be a Supermom. I have been learning about Bible moms since I was a little girl. Their stories of faith always seemed like unattainable goals. I never once considered the fact that they were just like me.

Not a Supermom.

Not always holding it together.

Not always living out the faith they claimed to have.

Not always leading their children in the ways of the Lord.

But always, EVERY SINGLE DAY, they had a God who listened when they whispered a quick prayer in the dead of night.

They had a Super God and so do we.

He holds our lives together.

He takes our tiny bits of faith and uses them to do miracles.

He guides us as we guide our children and point them to the Savior.

And that’s what I wrote my book about. It’s about ordinary moms doing extraordinary things through faith in a God who performs miracles in everyday life. Yes, they lived thousands of years ago, but I bet if you look around, you’ll see them everywhere. Maybe…in your mirror.
